DR. S GIRISH RAO

Dr Girish Rao MDS., FDSRCS(Eng)., FFDRCSI(Ire)., Hon.FDSRCS(Edin)., DSc (Honoris Causa) Dr Girish served AOMSI as EC member for 3 years between 2002 to 2004 and as Vice President in 2017. Currently he is the Hon.General Secretary of our association from 2022. Under his leadership he has transformed the landscape of Maxillofacial Surgery in India and contributed significantly to the growth of each and every Maxillofacial Surgeon and AOMSI. Upskilling of our members, research and member centric social security scheme are the key thrust areas which he has passionately embarked upon to serve. His public health initiatives such as the trauma campaign 'saving lives and saving faces', rehabilitation for post covid Mucormycosis patients, Oral Cancer prevention, early diagnosis and early intervention campaign and the project Sanjeevani to empower every dentist in India to handle medical emergencies in dental practice trained by our own Maxillofacial Surgeons across the country were the flagship projects which were successfully implemented under his tenure as Hon.General Secretary. Dr Girish believes that every Maxillofacial Surgeon in India has the potential to lead our speciality and serve our great Nation. He believes in facilitating collaborations with all Medical, Dental and all allied surgical specialities to get the best outcomes. His vision to make Maxillofacial Surgery a house hold name would empower every Maxillofacial Surgeon across the country to be very successful in his own right and given another opportunity to serve as the President of this esteemed association he would like to dedicate himself for this noble mission.
DR. SHAJI THOMAS

Born on 20th January 1968. I completed BDS and MDS from the prestigious Bapuji Dental College, Davangere. Following postgraduation, I completed the Senior Resident program at JIPMER, Pondicherry, FIBOMS, in the first exam based board examination in 2009. I joined academics from the reputed Annamalai University in 2003 and have continued in academics since then with a desire to train young budding Maxillofacial surgeons. This career had me move to different parts of the country and I had the opportunity to introduce Maxillofacial surgery to many regions of the country which today are active areas where our specialty thrives under the banner of Maxillofacial Surgery. During the academic career, I have trained over 5 PhDs, 75 postgraduates, uncounted numbers of undergraduates many of who were mentored to pursue a career in Maxillofacial Surgery. I have guided over 100 research projects, published over 75 papers, reviewed scores of articles, delivered over 150 talks in the subject in both national and international forums. My areas of interest covers almost the entire spectrum of Maxillofacial Surgery from Dentoalveolar, Trauma, emergency room, pathologies, reconstruction, cleft, orthognathic, implantology, temperomandibular surgery and so on. I have served AOMSI right from the beginning of my career and occupied various posts, which I have served responsibly. I have spearheaded various campaigns to educate the public on the subject and organised state and national conferences. I have been involved with the IBOMS since 2012 and was instrumental in evolving it to its present high standards of examination.

DR. GOSLA SRINIVASA REDDY

Prof. Dr. Dr. Srinivas Gosla Reddy, a distinguished craniofacial surgeon, is a pioneering figure in cleft and craniofacial surgery. As Founder of the GSR Institute of Craniofacial Surgery (GSRICFS), Hyderabad, he has transformed countless lives through his dedication to free, high-quality surgical care. The institute, serving patients within a 1,000 km radius, performs around 1,500 free surgeries annually and has surpassed 40,000 procedures, supported by organizations like Smile Train and Cleft Children International. A strong advocate for education, Prof. Reddy established fellowship programs in cleft and craniofacial surgery recognized by 16 Indian universities. To date, GSRICFS has trained over 300 fellows and more than 1,000 postgraduates, shaping the next generation of specialists. His research collaborations with Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, have yielded significant advancements in understanding surgical outcomes and genetic associations of cleft lip and palate. His humanitarian vision extends beyond surgery through the Hyderabad Cleft Society, which operates a school offering education, shelter, and sustenance to underprivileged children with cleft and craniofacial anomalies until adulthood. Looking ahead, his global initiative aims to establish 25 GSR Hospitals worldwide, sustaining his mission of free, ethical care across continents. Honored with awards including the Jehan Yperman Award, Sekhsaria Fellowship, and the Dr. Prathap C. Reddy Philanthropy Award (GAPIO, 2022), Prof. Reddy exemplifies excellence, compassion, and leadership in medicine. Currently, he is an active Member of Royal College of Surgeons of England and Glasgow. He is also a recipient of notable fellowships such as FICS, FIBOMS, FIBCSOMS, FIAOMS, FMSI. He has published around 110 publications in various National and International Journals with total citations of 812, h-index-14, i10 index-23. He is the Executive Editor of National Journal of Maxillofacial Surgery and has also published a textbook on Maxillofacial Trauma by Springer Nature. Furthermore, he is also working as Honourable Treasurer of Uttar Pradesh State Chapter of AOMSI. He is a renowned Faculty in Oral Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery, an eminent speaker and panellist in various National and International workshops. Dr. Vinod Krishna Krishnaswamy Associate Dean | Clinic Head | Associate Professor Saveetha Oral Cancer Institute, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Saveetha University, Chennai Dr. Vinod Krishna Krishnaswamy, a native of Chennai, is currently serving as the Associate Dean, Clinic Head, and Associate Professor at the Saveetha Oral Cancer Institute, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Saveetha University. He completed his undergraduate studies in dentistry at Saveetha Dental College, Chennai in 2010, followed by his postgraduation in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Adhiparasakthi Dental College in 2017. His passion for surgical oncology led him to pursue a fellowship in Oral Oncology at Malabar Cancer Centre, Kerala. He is also a Fellow of the Indian Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FIBOMS), having graduated at the National Conference held in Indore. Currently, Dr. Vinod is pursuing his PhD at Saveetha University. His key areas of interest include Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Oncology, Maxillofacial Reconstruction, Trauma, and Maxillofacial Pathology.
